Te Reo Maori, the Maori language is an official language of Aotearoa, but for a time it was banned from being taught in schools, and children were beaten for speaking it. The language has gone through a renaissance and taken its place as an important part of Maori culture, I interviewed speakers of te Reo about their experiences with it.
